Ramadhan Distribution 2021

Whoever feeds a believer who is fasting then he will get the same reward as the one who is fasting without there being any decrease in their rewards. [Tirmidhi]

Ramadhan 2021

Distribution is Insha'Allah from the start of Ramadan and will continue throughout Ramadan.

Project Gambia organises the complete distribution in the The Gambia. We aim to support vulnerable and needy families and widows for the complete month of Ramadhan and the festive celebrations of Eid.

Project Gambia has conducted Food Distribution during the month of Ramadhan since 2001. We aim to deliver essential food items to identified poor and needy families prior to the month of Ramadhan and during. The distribution is systemically observed and witnessed by our dedicated hands-on team who work tirelessly during the month to allow this to be a success.

Last year we provided support to over 9,000 families. This support included provisions of Rice, Sugar and Oil (essential items needed for Ramadhan).

We also provided community iftaar programmes at selected masjids throughout the 30 days.

This year has impacted these families even harder due to the global effects of Covid-19 leaving thousands without a source of income. This food parcel ensures that their families have food at the time of iftaar and suhoor so they are able to partake in the benefits of fasting and Ramadhan.

A £20 food parcel would consist of:

Rice Bag (25kg) = £10

Sugar Bag (5kg) = £6

Cooking Oil (4 litre) = £4

This would assist a poor and needy family during the month of Ramadhan!

People living in developing countries like The Gambia, particularly those in rural areas are some of the most deserving people of food packages. This is increasingly important during the month of Ramadan when without them thousands will not be able to fulfil their religious obligation.

Method of distribution

4-6 weeks prior to the beginning of Ramadan, potential beneficiaries who may be in need of food parcels, and who are residing across the country including villages we operate in, are assessed by local Imams, village chiefs and our partners. This determines those who are most needy for the Ramadan food parcels. After the assessment has taken place beneficiaries are identified and numericalised.
