      <image:title>Water Aid</image:title>
<image:caption>Safe water eliminates poverty, hunger and disease however in some areas the only solution is to create large boreholes that can hold over 100,000 litres. Access to a clean and constant supply of clean water is essential for life. Not only does it keep the human body alive and functioning, but regular hygiene staves off diseases whilst regular access to water helps crops to grow and allows farmers to grow livestock. The use of wells and pumps are a viable solution for many areas but in vast swathes of Africa, water is so far below the earth’s surface that the only way to reach it is to create a large borehole.</image:caption>

<image:caption>4-6 weeks prior to the beginning of Ramadan, potential beneficiaries who may be in need of food parcels, and who are residing across the country including villages we operate in, are assessed by local Imams, village chiefs and our partners. This determines those who are most needy for the Ramadan food parcels. After the assessment has taken place beneficiaries are identified and numericalised.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Eid/Qurbani - Significance of Qurbani</image:title>
<image:caption>Eid-al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, is celebrated during the twelfth month of the Islamic calendar, known as Dhul Hijjah, which translates as ‘Lord of the Pilgrimage’. It is during this month that pilgrims travel to Mecca in order to visit the Kaaba. Hajj is performed on the eighth, ninth and tenth days of the lunar month. Eid al-Adha begins on the tenth and ends on the 13th.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Eid/Qurbani - Significance of Qurbani</image:title>
<image:caption>The practice of Qurbani can be traced back to the Prophet Ibrahim (AS), who dreamed that God ordered him to sacrifice his only son, Ismail. In his devotion to God, Ibrahim agreed to follow his dream and perform the sacrifice. But God intervened and sent a ram to be sacrificed in Ismail’s place. Ismail was spared because Ibrahim proved he would sacrifice his son as an act of piety, despite the loss it would have caused him. The continued practice of sacrifice acts as a reminder of Ibrahim’s obedience to God.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Ophanages - Duty to provide care</image:title>
<image:caption>Every child has the right to a home; feeling cared for, loved and safe. Unfortunately, this is just a wishful dream. Orphans are some the most vulnerable members of our society and having lost the love, care and protection of parents, they are at the mercy of close relatives, family and friends and society at large. We have a duty to provide for these vulnerable orphan children, which is why this project was set up to help build an orphanage for those most at need.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Ophanages - Prophetic tradition</image:title>
<image:caption>Many orphans in The Gambia find themselves abandoned, struggling to survive. The struggle to find food, as well as living in makeshift shelters with no hope of attending school or accessing vital medical treatment are a daily occurrence for these children.  Prophet Muhammed, peace and blessings be upon him (PBUH), said, “The one who cares for an orphan and myself, will be together like this,” and he held his two fingers together (Sahih Bukhari). </image:caption>

      <image:title>Ophanages - Prophetic tradition</image:title>
<image:caption>It was the practice of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) to care for orphans when he realised how valuable and vulnerable these children were. He himself was an orphan, but, with care and protection from his grandfather and uncle, he became the beacon of light for the world at large. It is our sacred duty to support, protect and care for the welfare of the orphans. </image:caption>

      <image:title>Ramadhan Distribution - Method of distribution</image:title>
<image:caption>4-6 weeks prior to the beginning of Ramadan, potential beneficiaries who may be in need of food parcels, and who are residing across the country including villages we operate in, are assessed by local Imams, village chiefs and our partners. This determines those who are most needy for the Ramadan food parcels. After the assessment has taken place beneficiaries are identified and numericalised.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Masjids - The role of the masjid</image:title>
<image:caption>It is clear that masjids play an important role in the Muslim community, but sadly, many Muslims across The Gambia simply do not have access to a local mosque. Some communities lost their mosques, while many rural areas have never had a mosque at all. As a result, the long journey to the nearest Masjid is difficult or even impossible for many of those in the greatest need, particularly the sick and elderly. After home and work, the Masjid is the most frequented place for a Muslim but unfortunately in the Gambia, the limited resources cannot fulfil their desire for a much needed Masjid place.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Masjids - The role of the masjid</image:title>
<image:caption>The masjid plays a vital role in bringing the community together and uplifting their spirits. Help us to build a Masjid and unite these poverty-stricken communities. Masjid’s are at the heart of every Muslim community around the world and they play a pivotal role in education, daily worship and special occasions. Indeed, the first act of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) upon his arrival in Medina was to build a masjid. “Whoever builds a Masjid for the sake of Allah (SWT), Allah (SWT) will build for him likewise in Paradise”</image:caption>

      <image:title>Masjids - How we can help</image:title>
<image:caption>At Project Gambia, we have been helping support communities across The Gambia build their religious institutions which have gone on to become the focal point of their community. Each building is designed specifically for each current and future needs though careful planning with village officials and elders. Since launching the campaign we have been able to build 5 Masaajid’s across The Gambia, helping thousands of Muslims enjoy a communal place of worship Currently, many worshipers are forced to use temporary buildings that provide little to no shelter from the blazing sun.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Masjids - Your donations</image:title>
<image:caption>Your donations will help us to build permanent Masjids that will Inshallah be there until the end of time that the entire community can use. Just a £100 provides a prayer area for a Masjid, whilst £15,000 can help us to build a small Masjid , and £30,000 will ensure we can build a large place of worship.</image:caption>
